...A splash of colour to zoned spaces blend together to provide a fresh, casual formality and flexibility to this multi-purpose facility
The interior design of the revamped wine bar and restaurant at Dog Rock Motel in Albany is focused on spatial planning to ensure the layout of spaces were highly functional and well connected, whilst also defining smaller zones to create a sense of intimacy and differentiation. Guests enter the space via the new wine lounge, which places its focus on an existing brick fireplace that has been re-clad with stone to create a warming hearth. The wine lounge is distinguished by its intimate size and soft furnishings, including upholstered booth seating and a backlit wine display cabinet that forms a visual divider between the Lounge and the adjoining central dining space. An impressive wine bar has been created in the centre of the restaurant, with dramatic wine displays, stone cladding and natural textures encouraging patrons to sit at the bar to enjoy local wines.
A light colour palette was selected for furnishings, which contrasts well with the warm tones of the custom-designed cabinetwork to create a venue that is timeless, fresh, inviting and friendly. The client selected many of the furnishings themselves, guided by the main palette but with a distinct sense of individuality and flair.
