Located on a busy corner in Marine Parade, Cottesloe, this concept was designed as a contemporary mixed use development that combined a beachfront cafe with a private residential apartment above. The site has sweeping ocean and beach views, which are maximized with the design of the apartment through clever planning and placement of windows that encourage natural lighting whilst also achieve privacy from the busy streetscape below. The apartment component of the building has a simple cubic form which is suspended on a stone blade wall, appearing to float above street level. The apartment projects over the ground floor building footprint, creating a sheltered alfresco dining area to the cafe below.
