...Dramatic roof forms harmonise with sculptural planes and northern glass to capture expansive ocean views

This family beach house was designed for a gently sloping semi-rural site overlooking Eagle Bay in Dunsborough, in Western Australia's South West region. The design was created to maximize access to ocean views whilst also achieving natural lighting with generous glazing to the north. The distinctive wrap-around form that characterizes the house was designed to create a protective 'shoulder' that allowed for a sheltered courtyard and decks to the north, as well as providing privacy from neighbouring properties. The site topography was used to elevate the building form and to create a large wine cellar and underground rainwater storage system at basement level.
