0119 Mt Duckworth Beach House

...Endless glass tied together by natural stone & cantilevered planes provide an enclosed retreat capturing sweeping ocean & valley views

Located on an elevated bush block on Mt Duckworth in Yallingup, Western Australia, this expansive beach house was designed to maximize valley and ocean views, whilst also creating a sense of enclosure with the building form wrapping around generous outdoor living spaces and recreation areas that encourage indoor/outdoor living. The house was oriented to achieve natural lighting and ventilation, with the main building spine positioned to protect against the nearby access road and achieve privacy and shelter.

The beach house design is characterized by its low-profile rectilinear form that is raised on a plinth and features dramatic flat roofs, stone blade walls and tilt-up concrete walls juxtaposed alongside generous areas of glazing. There is a large alfresco outdoor living area with an operable louvre roof over, allowing use throughout the seasons, plus a tennis court and infinity edge swimming pool.
